Alesandra Seutin’s MIMI’S SHEBEEN Selected by Jury for Het Theatre Fest 2023

Uprise Rebel are pleased to announce that Alesandra Seutin’s new work MIMI’S SHEBEEN has been selected by a jury as one of the most impactful theatre shows of the moment in Belgium. After a seccessful run in March 2023, the show will now return to KVS Brussels for two special shows as part of the Het Theatre Festival in September 2023.

“Together with a superb ensemble full of her own signatures, Seutin's choreographic vocabulary manages to infuse the 'collective individuality' of African heritage into a multidimensional discourse anchored in the local and contemporary performing arts field.”

MIMI’S SHEBEEN takes its inspiration from the life and legacy of South-African singer Miriam Makeba and her exile from her own country, Seutin uses the legacy of Makeba’s work as a political activist to convey stories of exile, immigration and human rights.
