Vicki Igbokwe | Uchenna Dance

Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu is the Founder, Creative Director, and Joint CEO of award-winning company Uchenna, a national touring dance company founded in 2009. The company’s mission of empowerment, entertainment, and education comes to life through powerful performances and workshops that connect deeply with audiences and participants alike. Stylistically, Uchenna’s work fuses Waacking, Vogue, and House with contemporary and traditional African dance, creating a distinctive and instantly recognisable aesthetic, that is simply UCHENNA.

Vicki is the creative force behind acclaimed Uchenna productions including The Head Wrap Diaries and Our Mighty Groove, which opened Sadler’s Wells East in February 2025 and went on to win Best Dance Production at the Black British Theatre Awards that same year.

Alongside her company work, Vicki is a sought-after choreographer and movement director for theatre, known for bold physical storytelling across stages in the UK and internationally. Her theatre credits include Pinocchio at Shakespeare’s Globe and The Enormous Crocodile for the Roald Dahl Story Company.

She is a Trustee of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, extending her long-standing commitment to shaping a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable cultural landscape.

Vicki is also Director of Empowerment at People Make It Work, where she works with cultural organisations and independent leaders to unlock potential, embed equity, and strengthen leadership across the creative sector. Alongside this, she works independently as the Lighter Leadership™ Coach, supporting creative leaders and changemakers to trust themselves, redefine leadership on their own terms, and find liberation from stress and burnout. Whether in a studio, on stage, or in a leadership space, Vicki’s work invites you to trust your instincts, connect to what matters, and realise that your superpower is being you.
